FutureBASIC overview
FutureBasic 7 builds macOS 64-bit applications for both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. The FutureBasic 7 IDE consists of a syntax-aware editor, and a translator which seamlessly builds using the system compilers.
Beginners can use a simplified run-time to write programs while not having to worry about things such as a graphical user interface (GUI) or printing. Experts can combine FB source, C and Objective-C within an application.

Translator
- New - a constant name can now contain one or more underscore ( _ ) characters.
- Note: This feature will break existing apps that add constants by:
- value = _const1_const2
- New - xref alternate syntax added - See FutureBasic Reference for details.
- Fix - Using mda_swap more than once in the same local function would throw an error.
- Internals Updates: Gradual move from Core Foundation MRC ( manual reference counting ) to NS.
- ARC( automatic reference counting ).
- Fix - double clicking an error/warning in error window would not highlight in source. ( late addition after.
- initial release - Brian ).
Editor
- New - If an Xcode project folder exists in the FB app's build folder, Command > Clean Build Folder gives.
- the option (via alert) to also delete the Xcode project folder.
CocoaUI
- Update - 'control does not exist' alert now displays the called function name where the error occurred.
- Header updates.
Headers
- New - Tlbx CFStringEncodingExt.incl. Note: This header is optional.

Have just stared using it again after along absence.
As it currently stands the software is virtually worthless. Tutorials assume a working familiarity with BASIC and are not geared toward newcomers. Training materials for FNG's is totally non-existent. I can't even get a basic Input command to return anything but a null result. Looking through the documentation once again it assumes you already know what the format terms means and explains nothing and I have used every trick in the book to no avail. Far different from the old STAZ or Zedcor productions.
The support is via e-mail and so disorganized that I had to simply send them to the junk files. My e-mail box was completely flooded by nothing but gazillions of threads by experienced users. No support forums where you could at least have some questions by newbies. all I see e-mails are entirely dominated by experienced users whose threads are totally worthless to newbies. Given the poor level of support (1 out of 10) I really can not recommend this package.

I have FutureBasic 1.0.3 from years ago when it was developed by Zedcore, and ran on 68k macs . I've tried futurebasic 5 but it feels so different. does any of the same environment from years ago still exist in the new version of it ?

"Could not get read/write access to preferences..." I deleted the directory the popup suggested deleting, still same error all the time.
